Baby, Baby

My friend asked me to make two baby cards and she wanted them A5 and in boxes. Oh joy, I much prefer making square cards and boxmaking really isn't my favourite thing to do. Good job I have a Crafter's Companion boxer. They both actually came out right first time, thank goodness.

Scooter Boy

This is my last week as a member of the DT of Totally Gorjuss. Yes after two years I have decided it is time for a change. Thanks so much to Net and the rest of the team. I have enjoyed it so much. Our challenge this week is Something Blue.

I have had this little boy on my wish list for some time and finally bought him a couple of weeks ago. Funky Kits had 20% off for one day only so it would have been rude not to buy some as there are still lots of Sugar Nellie images on my wish list.

Skating

Sadly it's my last week as a guest designer at Christmas Challenges (with sketches) and as always there is a fabulous sketch to follow. This week we are sponsored by Stampin' Up. I have really enjoyed my guest designer slot for the last three months, thanks for asking me girls.

I was lucky enough to win a Tiddly Inks image recently and chose this little cutie. she has been coloured with Copics with a little Sakura Clearstar pen on her skates and lots of diamond stickles. The papers are Echo Park Winter Wishes. I've used DI Faded Jeans around the edges, added some baker's twine, snowflake charm, punched snowflakes and die cut skates cute with a Marianne die. I actually bought these from eBay as I love the die but didn't feel it was one I would use very much as they are rather big so buying some diecuts seemed a more sensible solution.

Art Deco

This is my second post for today. Please scroll down for my scrapbook layout.

I had the gorgeous art deco pack from Docrafts for Christmas and the cards I have made with the pack are proving very popular at craft fairs. This is one of the 8 x 8 cards I made.Paper, sentiment and decoupage are from the pack and I added some black raffia lase and white satin ribbon. The image is so beautiful it just doesn't need anything else.

The pack also contains some die cut bags and boxes and here are three I made. The images are from the pack ad I added some Wild Orchid roses to the boxes and a feather and ribbon to the bag.

Bows in my Hair

Last Friday I spent a lovely day with my friend Lynsey and this is one of the things I made. I have so many photos to make into layouts and I chose these three of me as I have a bow in my hair in all of them. I remember having a selection of ribbons and I would come home from school looking just as tidy as when I left, bows intact. I would have been almost 6 in the photo on the left and had lovely long hair. It was so nice to make a really girly page. The backing paper is K&Co. I added strips from 3 other papers and used a MS border punch. I borrowed some lovely silvery grey lacey washi tape from Lynsey. The pink lace is some my Mum gave me ages ago and the beautiful rose ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons. Lynsey also gave me the wooden hearts and the butterfly from My Crafty Heart.

Old Jalopy

Despite the freezing cold wind and occasional snow showers people did come out to the craft fair yesterday. although there were less people than before those who did come were buying and I did really well. Sold lots of craft stash too. Although we have had some snow it was nothing like the amount you poor people up north have had.

I seem to have been making a lot of men's cards this week and my DT card for Totally Gorjuss is another male card.  Our them this week is Something Borrowed and we are sponsored by The Ribbon Girl. For my borrowed item I have used some washers from one of hubby's many tins in the garage. Well I say borrowed, he isn't getting them back. I have used four stamps from the Tim Holtz Journey set. I have used DI Vintage Photo and dstressed all the dges. The backing paper is Prima Craftsman, Sizzix embossing folder  with sanded Core'dinations. The stars are K&Co, wheel and gear Tim Holtz, washers from the garage.

Easter

This is my second Easter make today.Yes, I know a CAS card. I bought some crosses diecuts to use on Easter and Sympathy cards. It's not a die I would buy as I wouldn't get enough use out of it but 10 for £1.50 with 3 different styles of cross was a good buy I thought. Not my usual style of card but I try to appeal to as many people as possible when selling my cards. I wasn't sure about it but it has grown on me. Tomorrow is my last craft fair before Easter so if it doesn't sell I will keep it for next year. The paper is Papermania Vintage Notes. I've embossed the die cut oval and added a freebie stamped sentiment and an MB prim poppy die cut from Centura Pearl.

Snow White

Well after sorting out the Google Reader going issue I was able to sit down and get ahead with some DT work yesterday and also made this sweet card. Back to cute again after yesterday's masculine card. I tried a bit of resist embossing, one of those techniques I have been meaning to try for ages but never got round to. It's not perfect but not bad for a first attempt.

Bloglovin'

Please scroll down for my card today.

Well you have to laugh don't you. Yesterday I scheduled the post below including the bit about my followers. Last night when I planned to visit some blogs I was alarmed to find you are all going to disappear from my blog and my reading list will go too. At first I thought the blogs were going. What a moment of panic that was. However after much discussion on Facebook with far more tech savvy people than me it appears that Google have decided to switch off Google Reader from 1 July.

So if you would like to keep following me, and I do hope you will, please sign up to Bloglovin'. I just did and boy, was that easy. You just ask them to transfer the blogs you are following, and whoop it's done. I have added the widget to my side bar.

Firstly a huge welcome to my new followers, Wow, I am amazed to have reached almost 1500 followers and thank you so much. I feel some candy will be offered if I reach that magic number..

After yesterday's cute card time for something more distressed.  I don't know why but I love images with umbrellas. I'm not very fond of rain, and goodness knows we have had enough of that lately so my liking for these images seems odd.

50's Fashion and exciting news

I am almost managing to make at least one layout a week this year. There have been a couple of weeks I have missed so when I saw the challenge at Totally Gorjuss was Something Old I knew what I wold make for my DT project this week. We are sponsored by Heather's Hobbie Haven.

The photos are of my Mum and in the second picture she is with her Mum. My Mum is only 17 in the larger picture but looks older than today's youngster of 17 doesn't she. My Mum was always dressmaking and knitting so I kept to that theme for the page. I went for a shabby chic look tearing the fashion paper and using lots of DI Vintage Photo. I've used a free vintage digital stamp behind the photos and made the frame from sanded Core'dinations. The mannequin is from Craftwork Cards and I made a dress in the 50's style for it. The title is from American Crafts letter and the ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons. I remember having the old wooden cotton reels when my Mum had finished with them to make things with. I kept a box with all sorts of bits and pieces to craft with. Goodness knows what I made.

Working the Land

I've learnt something today, be careful what you use on the windowsill when the window of your craft room is open. We had a frosty but sunny start to the day and I decided to open some windows. Whilst the computer was firing up I opened up a large stamp folder on the windowsill, pulled out a stamp and the one behind it fell out of the window. There is a small tiled roof below which is over our front door and I could see the stamp sitting on the tiles. How do I get it down? Wait for hubby to get home, oh no. Undid one leg of his camera tripod so I could reach it and managed to flick it down hoping it would go down to the ground but it landed in the gutter. Opened the front door, stood on a small stepstool and recovered my stamp, hooray for me!

So onto my card which has been made using a gorgeous new stamp from Delicious Doodles. Teri sometimes has a Facebook competition to name a new stamp and the winner wins the digi. I named it Working the Land and won. I have edged it with DI Forest Moss and used up some papers from my odds and ends pile, which is going down nicely. I've used MS simple scallop border punch, baker's twine and some card candi. I found the sentiment in my sentiment folder and the colours match perfectly.

The craft fair on Sunday went well and as well as selling several cards and a couple of bags I sold quite a bit of craft stash too. I need to build up my stock of non cute cards now.

Baby Henry William

My friend has been expecting her first grandchild to make an appearance in February. Her daughter has had a rough time, with miscarriages and IVF. Suddenly she found herself pregnant without IVF but was then really sick for ages. A couple of weeks late but baby Henry arrived and all is well. I made my card ahead of time in neutral and lemon. My friend chose this LOTV image but as she wanted an 8 x 8 personalised card, and I don't sell that size baby card,  I couldn't make it it until baby arrived. I coloured the image in pink and blue and then when I got the call set to making this card.

Keep calm, it's only a game!

Two day in a row for Pollycraft images. I have of course used Maurice before for a Norwich City inspired card. Every time I make one they sell fast so maybe I should make a few more. I will have been up bright and early this morning to get to a craft fair. It is the first time I have done this one but I am told it is usually quite good and I have been trying to get in there for a while as they have  per year. They only have one of each type of craft which is also very good.
